The End of the World As We Know It Release Party
Celebrate the worldwide release of THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT: NEW TALES OF STEPHEN KING’S THE STAND with a signing by Brian Keene, Bryan Smith, Richard Chizmar, Ronald Malfi, Alma Katsu, Chuck Wendig, and Somer Canon. (Please note: Richard Chizmar will now be signing in Bangor Maine that day).
The store will be open from 10am until 4pm to both the general public and those who pre-purchased an event ticket. Customers who pre-purchased event tickets can show up at any time that day, and receive their tickets and copies of the book. At 4pm, the store will close for one hour while line formation begins outside. There will be two lines — one for pre-purchased ticket holders and one for the general public.
The doors will reopen at 5pm sharp. Ticket holders will go first, followed by the general public. Ticket holders are guaranteed one book per ticket. The general public will be on a first come, first served basis, as per their place in line.
Due to the expected crowd size, the contributors will sign The End of the World As We Know It: New Tales of Stephen King's The Stand, and ONE additional book each.

A reminder to both ticket holders and the general public — this is ONLY for in-store attendance at Vortex on the day of the launch. We are NOT offering mail order or shipping. You must be in attendance to receive your signed copy.

The founder of the Facebook sensation Books of Horror will be signing from 1pm to 3pm. We will have plenty of books in stock. You are also welcome to bring books from home.

Join the kids from Wrightsville Elementary School for the release of their collective scary book — WE CAN ALL WRITE! (INCUDING YOU). All of the kids will be on hand to sign the book, and we’ll have copies for sale here at the store. Signing 1pm to 2pm

During July, all DVDs are just $1.99 — regardless of what the price sticker says. That’s right. You pay just $1.99 per DVD. This sale excludes boxed sets, multi-disc editions, Blu-Rays, and VHS tapes.
Store Closed Due To Thunder River Car Show
Unfortunately, we will be closed for the annual Thunder River Car Show — an event which completely throttles business for all the local merchants located along the street in Columbia.

All the way from Australia, Aaron Dries is doing a rare U.S. signing at Vortex! And he’ll be joined by Central PA’s own John Boden, also a rarity on the signing and public appearance circuit. Signing from 1pm until 3pm.

Linda Addison and Jamal Hodge
Poet and writer Linda Addison is the first African-American to ever win a Bram Stoker Award, which she has gone on to win repeatedly (five times total). Jamal Hodge is a multi-award-winning filmmaker and writer who is a sitting Board Member of Harlem Film House and Axs Lab. We will have plenty of their books on hand for purchase. You are also welcome to bring books from home. Q&A begins promptly at 1pm, followed by a signing until 3pm.
